No pizza for you, uk
Why indeed? Pizza* here tends to be abysmal, and if you care even half as much as these people do - this discussion (which routinely uses words such as vulgarian to describe people who eat at Pizza Hut) will be absolutely riveting.

I’ve never been to naples, but i remember a tiny shack called ‘tom and jerry’ in a decidedly unfashionable part of rome that made pizzas that brought torrents of tears to my eyes. Pizza express does that to me too, but for entirely different reasons..
Actually, i think Dominos may be even worse.

well, as someone who eats pizza practically everyday, i am constantly seeking out new sources. i’ve had greasy pizzas, fluffy pizzas, crispy pizzas, sicilian pizzas, whole wheat pizzas, but i don’t think i’ve ever had real pizza.
we don’t have pizza express out here - at least i don’t think we do. domino’s is what i eat most, since they deliver and it’s relatively cheap. crazy dough’s - it’s a small local chain - is interesting. pinnochio’s - a hole in the wall - is probably the best i’ve had around here.
perhaps a pizza hunting expedition to little italy is in order.

interesting. italian pizza is really good. i’ve been to naples but unfortunately i wasn’t much of a food conniseur back then (actually i’m still not a food conniseur now, except i do know how to play food critic and make stuff up.
anyways, back to topic on hand (ie making stuff up), the great thing about italian pizza is that its basically a naan, fresh out of a tandoor with a little bit of tomato sauce, mozarella and whatever else you want on it.
i don’t think pizza express does such a bad job of replicating that, although i haven’t eaten there in a while so maybe their standards have slipped.
also, i did used to love domino’s so i guess my opinion counts for nought in this discussion.

actually, i think it is the context is very important too. usually, when i have dominos it is at my desk - the pizza has reduced itself into a soggy mass of insipid cheese, sweaty dough and those inderminate veggie / meat sourced products they call toppings.
No wonder, then, that im not particularly excited about the prospect.

telling, i think, that our most detailed, carefully considered comments are about pizzas.
also, i ate a domino’s pizza last night, following a reminiscence of past glories with one Unsuitable Boy. i don’t know if you have this in the UK, but ordering on-line is a treat in itself since they have a ‘progress meter‘ of sorts, displaying how your order is coming along, and messages like “Delivery expert Yeshraj left with your order at 11:00.”
